Billy's story is not an easy one. He had a difficult life before being rescued by Jim Cavanaugh. Although some of the details are sketchy, he spent time as rodeo clown barrel, getting smashed by angry bulls. Billy endured the anger of those bulls who were pursuing clowns who used Billy as a shield. Instead of goring a clown, those bulls gored poor Billy. There is also a long hazy story in which a "little person" was stored inside of him for days on end during a trip down the Mississippi river. The process to clean out his center and make him clean again is one tale to which he refuses to comment. There are also rumors of rehab stints and the picture above (as he smiles next to two cases of beer) are a constant reminder that his sobriety is a battle.
All that being said, Billy since entering the BiPolar Bear rehearsal space (even before it was a rehearsal space) has been a steadying force in the band's history. Billy was there, silently being supportive, reminding the boys that if he could survive rehab and the "little person" episode, they could be a band before they got old and died.
Billy has been at every show. He holds equipment and drinks for the band. Occasionally, he will even hold a band member up when they are too tired to stand. He loves being the 8th and silent member of the band, and has considered taking some ukulele lessons, but he is not hurry. He just loves being part of BIPOLAR BEAR!
